The Environmental Protection Agency is suing Irish Water and a local council claiming the public water supply in a Co Donegal town is not up to standard.Council to appear in court over Letterkenny’s water supply. The EPA is taking both Irish Water and Donegal County Council to court over the water supply for Letterkenny and its 19,000 residents. The agency first introduced a directive in August 2011 informing the council to take measures to improve its supply. An examination of the Letterkenny Regional Public Water Supply showed concerns for the treatment of the water supply. One of the areas of concern was for the treatment of Crytosporidium as well as excessive levels of trihalomethanes. The complaint from the EPA alleges that Donegal County Council “failed to comply with a Direction issued by the EPA under Regulation 10(4) of the European Communities (Drinking Water) (No. 2) Regulations 2007 in that they failed to implement the action programme approved by the EPA on 31 August 2011 for the improvement of the quality of water intended for human consumption from the Letterkenny Regional Public Supply to meet the parametric values specified in the said Regulations for trihalomethanes within the period specified by the EPA and provided for in the said Regulations.”However the council has failed to do so within a timeframe set down by the EPA. Now a court summons has been issued to both Donegal County Council and Irish Water to appear at Letterkenny District Court on Tuesday next.As Irish Water now holds the remit for drinking water, they too have been summoned to appear in court. This article is only available to GBA Prime Members There’s a lot of confusion surrounding attic fans. Here at GBA, we regularly receive e-mails from homeowners with questions about attic fans: What’s the purpose of the fan in my attic? How often should I run it? Do I need a bigger fan? Before addressing these recurring questions, it’s important to define our terms. First, we need to distinguish between three different types of ventilation fans. The most common kind of residential ventilation fan is one used to provide fresh air for building occupants. Examples of this type of fan include the fans in a heat-recovery ventilator (HRV) or an energy-recovery ventilator (ERV), as well as some types of bathroom exhaust fans. (For more information on this type of ventilation fan, see Designing a Good Ventilation System.)Whole-house fans are sometimes confused with ventilation fans that provide fresh air. Unlike a ventilation fan, a whole-house fan — an attic-mounted fan that exhausts air from a home at night — is designed to cool a house (that is, to lower the indoor temperature).A powered attic ventilator has a different purpose: it is designed to lower the temperature of an attic by exhausting air from the attic and replacing attic air with outdoor air.RELATED GBA ARTICLESAll About Attic VentingAre Solar-Powered Attic Ventilators Green?Martin’s Useless Products ListGeorgia Pulls the Attic-Ventilator Plug (Sort of)Fans and natural coolingINFORMATION ON WHOLE-HOUSE FANSHome Energy: Finding the Whole-House Fan That FitsCalifornia Energy Commission: Whole-House FansIowa State University: Whole-House Fans for Summer CoolingSMUD: Money-Saving Whole-House FansPG&E: Whole-House FansDOE: Cooling with a Whole-House FanDOE: Whole-House FanINFORMATION ON POWERED ATTIC VENTILATORSHome Energy: Drawbacks Of Powered Attic VentilatorsFSEC: Performance Assessment of Photovoltaic Attic Ventilator FansAt the risk of oversimplifying,… Start Free Trial Already a member? Opportunities are too rare to take for granted. Engagement is a gift, and one that deserves your respect. A dream client with a compelling reason to change is a starting point for a competitive displacement. Every opportunity deserves your best effort, your very best shot.Every interaction with the people who are going to decide whether to work with you is an opportunity to create a preference. It can move them towards working with you. And it can just as easily be an interaction that moves your contacts to consider a competitor—or to move towards them.Believing that sales is business as usual, that it’s simply punching a clock and going through the motion, is taking opportunities too lightly. Not preparing for meetings, not determining the outcomes you need to achieve, and not planning to create compelling value for the contacts sitting across from you in a sales call is to take half measures.Without a real pursuit plan, a strategy to win, you leave yourself susceptible to a loss. Without spending the time to decide how you are going to win—and how you might lose—you risk losing where a win is possible. It takes effort to think, to strategize, to consider possibilities. The opportunity you are pursuing may not be available to you again in the future. It may be years—or decades—before your dream client decides to reevaluate their partner. A poor showing may make it more difficult to get another shot in the future. You need to be impeccable in every interaction, in every opportunity, every time. It is important to win, but if you are going to lose, you must lose having made it an impossibly difficult decision for your dream client.
(Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)In the loaded Big 12, Texas Tech has been an afterthought. Coming into tonight’s game with No. 9 Iowa State, the Red Raiders were 0-6 in conference play, but Tubby Smith’s team jumped all over the star-studded Cyclones from the get-go. Tech opened up a 19-point lead at one point, but Iowa State came back to cut the lead to three with 23 seconds left. Iowa State would never get closer than that. Tech’s Devaugntah Williams hit two free throws to extend the lead to five, and as the final buzzer sounded, hundreds of Texas Tech fans flooded the court and mobbed the team.
At times last year, the Ohio State men’s basketball team seemed to have one plan: get the ball to Evan Turner and get out of the way. This season, however, the Buckeyes appear to have discovered an alternative. The early emergence of David Lighty and Jon Diebler as viable scoring options has given OSU some much-needed versatility. “I’ve been saying all along we have the greatest wings in the country,” center Dallas Lauderdale said. While Lauderdale’s claim might be slightly hyperbolic, there is no denying the Buckeyes have ability on the perimeter.Lighty, who in his first two years at OSU was known more for his defensive prowess rather than his ability to score, is averaging 12.3 points per game this season and scored a career-high 22 in last week’s win over Lipscomb.Diebler is scoring nearly 16 points a game and leads the Big Ten in three-pointers made per game. If they continue to score at their current pace, it will remove a lot of pressure from Turner, who has been double, triple and even quadruple-teamed by opponents at times this season. With the Buckeyes’ hot shooting, Turner said the defense will have more to worry about.“Once I get past the three-point line, there was a second man coming and once I get in the paint there were three men coming,” Turner said. “If they’re going to do that, they’ll pick their poison.”Turner said he will simply take whatever the defense will give him.“If I’m open I’m going to take the shot; if I’m not I’m going to dish it off,” Turner said. “I just want to play and make sure my team wins.”However, the Buckeyes have already seen what can happen on a night when their shooters are struggling. In the first half of OSU’s loss to North Carolina on Nov. 19, the Buckeyes shot only 29 percent from the field, leaving them in an insurmountable 14-point hole at halftime. Diebler and sophomore William Buford headlined the shooting woes, going a combined 7-29 from the field. Though Diebler seems to have successfully escaped any potential slump, Buford is still struggling to find his shot. Buford is shooting 38 percent from the field, something that coach Thad Matta said needs to change in order for his team to be successful. “Will is a guy that, he obviously wants to play well,” Matta said. “But by the same token, Will likes to win and we need Will to play well in order for us to win.”Regardless of how much Buford or any of the other Buckeyes are contributing, the onus will fall on Turner to lead the way on the offensive end. Fortunately for OSU, Turner has had no trouble carrying the load. The Buckeye point guard is third in the Big Ten in scoring, and leads the conference in rebounds and assists — gaudy numbers that have earned him conference Player of the Week honors in each of the last three weeks.Turner knows that as he goes, so go the Buckeyes.“When the coach calls my number I try to do my best with it,” Turner said. “If my team needs a boost, I’m confident enough to give them a boost. If the game is close and we need scores, I’ve been doing that in the past and I plan on doing that in the future.”
Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri was chosen Seria A’s best coach for the 2016/17 season over Atalanta’s Gian Piero Gasperini and Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri. He shared his gratitude towards his players and had some choice words on Paulo Dybala. The fact that he was not called upon for the next Argentina friendlies has been a huge upset for everybody in Juve and mostly for Dybala himself, as he has been in an extraordinary shape lately and there is no obvious reason for the national coach to snub him.Fiorentina owner: “Ribery played better than Ronaldo!” Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso was left gushing over Franck Ribery’s performance against Juventus, which he rates above that of even Cristiano Ronaldo’s.“Not being called up by Argentina [for friendlies] should motivate him even more because he’s still got every opportunity of earning a place at the World Cup,” Allegri shared, according to ESPN.“He’s got to be focused on this end of the season and we have all got to be ambitious when we face the best, like Real, as we search for a seventh straight title, which would be an achievement that would be hard for any other club to match.”
