Gov’t Mule Busts Out First ‘Just Got Paid’ Since 2005, Covers Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd & More [Watch]

first_imgGov’t Mule led a full on rager at the Saranac Brewery in Utica, NY last night, playing a bevy of hits and covers for the upstate New York crowd. The band was in full force, opening up with “Steppin’ Lightly” and not relenting for a powerhouse performance.The Mule went cover heavy in the Saranac showing, playing Bob Marley’s “Lively Up Yourself,” ZZ Top’s “Just Got Paid,” Pink Floyd’s “One Of These Days > Fearless,” Humble Pie’s “30 Days In The Hole,” and Ray Charles’ “I Don’t Need No Doctor” during the main set. The “Just Got Paid” was played for the first time since 2005, though the song was a staple of early Mule shows and is featured on the band’s recent archival release The Tel-Star Sessions.Warren Haynes Talks Gov’t Mule’s Beginnings, New Album & The ‘Magical’ Red Rocks PerformanceThe band also welcomed out Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr and Brandon Still during the encore, playing a cover of Grateful Dead’s “Sugaree” before launching into the Haynes-penned hit, “Soulshine.”Watch the full encore below, courtesy of Dancintank.
