first_imgLast night, Saturday Night Live hosted a Christmas episode which featured a hilarious sketch devoted entirely to alternative rock band Weezer. The sketch begins with an argument about between Matt Damon and Leslie Jones about Weezer, which derails a Christmas dinner. The argument begins after Weezer’s cover of Toto’s “Africa” is played at the dinner table. Matt Damon’s character proclaims, “I think they’re doing some cool things right now. Damon fires back with, “Uh oh, looks like we have a purist in the house”, as Jones rebuttals by saying, “Weezer put out two perfect albums, ‘Blue’ and Pinkerton, and the rest is pretty corny.” “Well, that’s your opinion, but me, I’m ride or die,” Damon says.Damon and Jones have a funny exchange regarding frontman Rivers Cuomo, as Damon comments, “Why don’t you grow the hell up and listen to Ratitude and Pacific Daydream… You just don’t understand what Rivers is going through right now. Jones responds with, “Rivers doesn’t understand what Rivers is going through.”Watch Saturday Night Live’s recent Weezer sketch below:SNL – Weezer[Video: Saturday Night Live]In the recent hours following the sketch, members of Weezer weighed in on SNL’s shenanigans.Rivers Cuomo tweeted, “THEY HAD A WHOLE ASS SKIT ABOUT WEEZER AND ME ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE AND IM ACTUALLY CRYING AAAGGGGHHHHHHH.”Drummer Patrick Wilson added on his Twitter, “Go Matt Damon!,” with former bassist Matt Sharp exclaiming, “Priceless, love it.
